Income Management Program

 

 

RECOMMENDATION:† ††††††††††††† Rercertnam/Schio

 

That a report regarding the Income Management program be provided to Council including the possibility of it being expanded beyond Bankstown and the likely impact if it is introduced in Ashfield.

 

That the report also include comment on the likely impact on local small business if the scheme is introduced in Ashfield.

1/5††† That the Metro MRC be represented on Councilís Local Indigenous, Multicultural and Ethnic Affairs Committee.

 

2/5††† That early in 2012, Council and the Metro MRC work together to identify local service needs, including ways to fund a weekly English Conversation program in the Ashfield Civic Centre.

 

3/5††† That Council note the needs being identified through the Settlement Grants Program operating in Ashfield.

 

4/5††† That Council look at ways to extend the role of the Community Harmony Worker to a five day per week position.

 

5/5††† That Council acknowledge the success of the Ashfield English Conversation program and the contribution made by the Volunteers.

Lunar New Year

That Council allocate additional hours, equivalent to two working days, to assist with Lunar New Year shopfront celebrations in Ashfield.
